TOYOTA LandCruiser VDJ 200 – KING OFF THE ROAD!
Above: Will probably cause a stir, even among luxury class SUVs – the complete new designed TOYOTA LandCruiser VDJ 200!
The all new TOYOTA LandCruiser VDJ 200 (short: J20) is a complete new designed car, although it shares elements of design and technical characteristics with Toyota-US-models “Tundra” and “Sequoia” .
With its appearance, the VDJ200 replaced the in 2007 discontinued LandCruiser J10. For the first time in model-history only V8-engines are offered for a LandCruiser.
Above: A view from the rear through the horizontally divided tailgate into the VDJ 200. Backrest of rear seats is splitted 50/50.
Unlike the “normal” VDJ 200s offered by TOYOTA Europe, which are (more than) adequately equipped with a whole bunch of electronic assistance-systems like e.g. DAC (Downhill Assist Control; automatically controlled constant slow speed when driving downhill off road), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control; prevents roll back during driveaway uphill), side impact- and knee-airbags and last but not least a exquisite convenient pneumatic suspension and much, much more, we offer the Landcruiser VDJ 200 as so called “Africa-version”: Widely without electronic systems and equipped with conventional coil-spring-suspension. But if one likes it, one can order most of the assistant-systems on extra charge of course. Hence fears and rumors, along with the discontinuation of the J10 yet another base to create capable, powerful expedition cars disappears, are invalid.
Our simplified Africa-version of the LandCruiser VDJ 200 can be upgraded to a serious, rugged and powerful expedition-car of course! Framework is remarkable strengthened in comparison to the J10, particularly with regard to the considerable increased engine power. Tales about a integral body often popped up in web forums are baseless rumors. Far from it: The new engineered framework withstands 40% more of torsion interaction and provides 20% more bending strength (manufacturer information).

Enginepower in conjunction with the 5-speed-manual-transmission is 162 kW. The 6-speed-automatic-transmission can take much more power: In conjunction with the automatic-transmission the V8-Biturbo-Diesel provides up to 195 kW of power and max. torque is 650 Nm (available from 1600 to 2600 rpm)!
But for all that, TOYOTA talks about 6% less fuel consumption than with the 6-cylinder-diesel of the LandCruiser 100.
Below a brief overview about engine/transmission-combinations possible:
4,5 liter V8-Biturbo Diesel (1VD-FTV) 195 kW / 650 Nm / 6-Speed-Automatic Transmission
4,5 Liter V8-Biturbo Diesel (1VD-FTV) 162 kW / 430 Nm / 5-Speed-Manual Transmission
4,7 Liter V8-Gasoline engine (2UZ-FE) 210 kW / 450 Nm / 5-Speed-Manual- or 5-Speed-Automatic Transmission
All available engines comply to EURO4-Standard!
The LandCruiser VDJ 200 offers permanent four-wheel-drive and a transmission with reduction gear. Central differential is a so called “Torsen”(TORque SENsing)-construction: The differential “senses” required and transferable forces at axles and distributes engine power correspondingly, but without cutting force-transfer to one axle completely! Engine power is distributed by the Torsen-differential sort of “intelligent” – ideal to keep up traction on icy, snowy or anyhow slippery grounds! Hence the Torsen-differential performs the task of a limited slip differential, but it performs automatic, continious and largely unnoted by the driver.

The suspension of the LandCruiser VDJ 200 consists of front axle with independend wheel suspension and coil springs (unlike J10; they used torsion bar). Rear axle comes as a rigid axle with coil springs.
The LandCruiser VDJ 200 is decelerated by four ventilated disc-brakes: Front disc-diameter is 340 mm, 8 mm thickness, rear disc-diameter is 345 mm, 15 mm thickness.
The all new LandCruiser VDJ 200 is 60 mm longer, 30 mm wider and 15 mm taller than its predecessor J10 and offers more than adequate spacing for conveniant travelling even off the road. The new engineered car body provides less noise, more safety, less vibrations and improved convenience.
The LandCruiser VDJ 200 is a powerful drawing vehicle: Braked haule load is up to 3500 kg!
The LandCruiser VDJ 200 gears to the advantages of Heavy-Duty-LandCruiser and additionally offers the comfort and convenience of a luxury car.
Reliable, solid, comfortable and enormous powerful:
The all new TOYOTA LandCruiser VDJ 200!
